Traditional Clay Pot Making & Food Tour
This tour is incredibly unique and is in the beautiful community of Choiseul, which was initially known as Anse Citron, it is home to the original craft of coal pot manufacturing and many other local arts and crafts on the island, such as grass placemats, woven basket, chairs, and other local clay products. Choiseul is located on the southwestern side of St. Lucia and is home to approximately 6,000 people. The people of Choiseul are very skillful and talented. Clay pottery experience. On this unique tour, you will have a local breakfast, then you will be taken to a local farm to first pick some local fruits and to understand the local produce. We then move to Choiseul to commence clay pottery. You will be taught the difference between clay (mud) and how it is used, you will also be shown how it is harvested, but it will be prepared for you to start making your own. Clay pot making is an easy process, as easy as working with modeling dough. In the training session, you will be making a mud plate, flowerpot, or anything of your choice, do not forget how fun it is to get your hands dirty while working with clay, and it is not just a fun thing to do, but it helps with your mental capacity in general. After you are done making your clay pot, you will be given one that has already been made and dry with the name St. Lucia written on it, that makes it easy for you to travel back to your native country and remember the clay pottery experience in St. Lucia. A local lunch which includes the national dish, will be served right after. After lunch, your driver will take you to visit one of our three windmills and to a local arts and craft center to see or purchase any art or craft that you may like. Complimentary drinks will also be given along the way.
